The Carry On team returns with their 17th offering in the British film franchise phenomenon dishing out even more madcap innuendo-laden fun with Carry on Camping.
Sid and Bernie suggest a camping holiday, secretly intending to take their prudish girlfriends, Joan and Anthea, to a nudist colony. Of course, they end up in the wrong place and find themselves at an ordinary campsite. With no attractions in sight, the two men are ready to pack up and return home when coach-loads of young women and bands of hippies suddenly show up.
One of the highest grossing films in British cinemas in 1969, Carry On Camping was filmed in the winter of 1968, shortly after the 'Summer of Love' and at the height of worldwide student unrest. Blessed with one of the most amusing of the Carry On titles (of which there are 31), it rather surprisingly also serves as a comment by the filmmakers on young people, the new 'permissive society' and youth culture in general.
Carry On Camping remains one of the most watched and loved films of the series.
